Hedge Finance Limited (HFL) is a Kochi-based non-deposit taking NBFC, registered with the Reserve Bank of India. The company was founded by Mr Alex K Babu in 2011. Over the years, HFL has established itself as a prime lender in Kerala with a wide client base and advanced infrastructure. Its focus is on finance against shares and mutual funds, complementing the business of its parent company, Hedge Equities Ltd. HFL has diversified into loans against property, business loans, and personal loans. The company is a part of the Hedge group of companies, which includes Hedge Equities Ltd (engaged in equity broking) and Hedge Commodities Ltd (commodity broking). The group started its operations in 2008. It provides services in capital markets, wealth management, and other investment products. The Company incorporated on 15th February 2011 vide Certificate of Incorporation No. U65923KL2011PLC027672 issued by the Registrar of Companies, Kerala to carry on the business of lending money either with or without security, carry on the business of hire purchase finance, leasing, gold loan, carry on the business of financiers, but the company shall not do the business of banking within the meaning of Banking Regulation Act, 1949 and subject to the Rules and Regulations issued by the Reserve Bank of India from time to time. The company has obtained Certificate of Commencement of Business on 18th June 2012.

ALEX K BABU

Chairman and Managing Director

Alex K Babu is the Founder, Chairman, and Managing Director of the Hedge Group of Companies. Recognized for his youthful zeal, creativity and business intelligence, Alex believes his role as a business leader is to lead his organization and society through change. K P PADMAKUMAR

 Whole-time Director

Mr. K P Padmakumar is a Banker with nearly 52 years of experience in India and abroad in Commercial Banking Treasury Management, Capital Markets, Mutual Funds and NBFCs. He is a Graduate in Agriculture and Certified Associate of Indian Institute of Bankers ICAIIBJ. During his 27 years of service in State Bank of India, he had handled many operational assignments including Treasury Manager -ship of “SBI’s Bahrain Offshore Banking Unit and that of Fund Manager of SBI Mutual Fund. In SBI he was managing one of the biggest Mutual Fund Schemes of the country namely “Magnum MultiplierPlus-1,993” with a corpus size of 1300 Cr. He was Chairman of the Federal Bank Ltd for 6 years from 1999 to 2005 and was instrumental in the transformation of the Bank as a tech-sawy vibrant Bank with commanding presence in the Indian Banking Universe.

RAPHEAL P THOMAS

 Director

Mr. Rapheal. P. Thomas is the master mind and the founding father of Al Barary Aluminium and Glass LLC, which was established and is operational since year 1993 from Dubai and Sharjah, U.A.E. Through his endeavouring ability, Al Barary expanded itself being the market leader as the largest qualified Sub-Contractor for building enveloping and glazing works, aluminium and glass fabrication, and installation in Middle East. As a result driven, self-motivated and resourceful, Mr. Rapheal was successful enough to diversify his business venture into different fruitful endeavours, thereby providing guidance with proven ability to develop and strengthen management teams in order to maximize company profitability and efficiency.

GEORGE JOHN

Independent Director

Mr. George John is a postgraduate in Physics and has an MBA and also has CAIIB qualification. He has about forty  years of wide and varied experience in commercial banking covering credit, treasury, forex, planning etc. He retired from Federal Bank as Chief General Manager and CFO. Apart from Federal Bank he has also served in IDBI Federal Life Insurance Co. as its Corporate Controller.

KT RAVINDRAN

Independent Director

Mr. K T Ravindran is a graduate in Chemistry and holds a Diploma in Management and  has CAIIB qualification. He has about thirty-six years of wide and varied experience in commercial banking covering credit, Investment Banking, Mutual Funds operations, International Banking, Compliance and Regulation,  Accounts and Audit. He retired from State Bank of India as General Manager. Apart from working in State Bank of India, he was the Executive Director and Chief Operating Officer of SBI Mutual Fund.
